wednesday’s with beau- gym baby

Besides running, one of my favorite things to do to stay in shape is strength training. I love lifting weights, sometimes just using my own body weight, or using my huge chubby baby as my weight. I always try to get my workout in when Beau is taking his nap. However, sometimes he naps for 30 minutes and sometimes he’s out for 3 hours. Totally unpredictable! So if by chance he took a horribly short nap, or I have too much to get done during his nap that trumps exercise, I bring him along with me! Now I am super lucky that my parents have a full commercial gym in their home so I never have to pay for a membership anywhere, nor do I have to travel to get there (we’re living with them until our home is built). I know I’m so spoiled! Here are a few of the exercises I do within the week. I always try to hit each muscle group 2x per week.

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset^^^This tricep dip is a favorite. You can do this just about anywhere. Great at attacking flabby arms!^^^

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset^^Lunges and squats are probably the things I do the MOST!! And holding a toddler while doing it really increases the intensity! Make sure you GET LOW! :)^^

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset^Crunches with kisses in between each one. It’s the best way to work abs.^

Remember that I am no professional and every body is different. My mom has been a personal trainer for years and has taught me lots along the way. There are so many great ways to stay fit inside and outside of a gym but these are just a selection of some of my favorite exercises.     That’s awesome that you have a gym in house! We’re living with my mum at the moment but unfortunately she doesn’t have one! I generally use free weights and alternate upper body and lower body days at the gym. I do bench press, shoulder presses, bicep and tricep curls, bent over rows, barbell squats, calf raises. It can be hard to make it to the gym as often as I’d like so maybe I should try doing more at-home workouts. I could probably use my 25 lb two-year-old as a weight!

      Thanks Sierra! We are totally spoiled at the moment to have a gym just down the hall. So awesome for doing your workouts! It’s hard sometimes to get there with little ones to chase after. Yes try some stuff at home and use your babe as a weight!!

    Sierra Danielle, you are in great shape! Your baby is getting so big that I would be able to lift him only a couple of times. His kisses must be a great reward for doing the crunches! He is adorable! I wish my mom or any close relative were a personal trainer. I need one!
