Hawaii part I

Last month my family and I escaped the cold and got away to Hawaii. We stayed at the Aulani Resort in Oahu and it was incredible. We swam in all the pools, rode slides and the lazy river, and had plenty of beach time. A week in Hawaii is not enough! Although I don’t think any amount of time is enough when it comes to Hawaii. It was Leni’s first vacation and she did so great. I think 3 months is a perfect age to travel with babies. Here comes an overload of photos…..

Sandy baby beach buns are what dreams are made of.

Leni didn’t actually love the beach so much. She was much more comfy hanging out in the shade by the pool. But she looked like the cutest beach babe ever.

My parents don’t even age. I’m telling you they’ve looked like this for like 20 years. She’s 55 and he’s 70……I know. what?

our family

These are some of my most cherished photos. These were taken only about a week or so after Leni was born. My dear photographer friend Angie came to our home and worked her magic, as she always does. It was the first time I had gotten ready since giving birth so I picked something nice and baggy to wear since I was basically still wearing a diaper. I can’t believe my tiny baby girl is already (almost) 5 months. I am so blessed to have two healthy children. With all the horrible things going on in the world it makes me hold a little tighter to my family. I hope you have a great weekend with those that you love.

I’m bummed that these photos are so fuzzy, but we were camping and I didn’t even realize they turned out this bad. At least I tried right? We usually go camping for one night, once a year with friends since we aren’t really the “campiest” family. But we always enjoy our overnighter with good friends. Plus Beau really loved getting dirty and throwing rocks. He even slept in the tent pretty great, which we were a little nervous about. But we all survived and even had a really fun time! I mean, I’m happy to be back in my own bed, but it was fun while it lasted.

We are off to California for a little family vacation and my best friend’s wedding on Sunday. We are so ready for a getaway, I can’t even explain how much we need a vacation right now! I’m super excited to take Beau to Disneyland! He loves Mickey Mouse and Cars so hopefully he loves them in person as much as he does on tv. Be back next week!

fourth of july weekend

So these are really random photos of our 4th of July weekend since I hardly took any (ugh). I celebrated my birthday on the 3rd of July and turned 29 years old, which sounds like a huge number to me. I’m not saying 29 is old or anything but being one year away from 30 just feels strange. It was a really great weekend spent with two really incredible boys. Since my b-day was on a Sunday we just stayed home, had eggs and sausage for dinner, and my favorite gluten free cake of all time. Beau gets so excited if we sing “Happy Birthday” since he always assumes it’s for him and thinks he gets presents. He literally sings happy birthday every single day most likely in hope of getting to eat ice cream and be showered with gifts. Sorry pal. Our 4th of July was spent working on a mini trampoline and swing set Grandma insisted on getting him. I’m not kidding it took Blake and I at least 10 hours to put this thing together. By the time we finished, on day two, it was 5pm and we were too tired to go anywhere to watch fireworks so we stayed inside and didn’t see any. I really love the 4th of July so it’s kind of a sad story, but seeing Beau play on his new swing made all the work worth it, and then I didn’t even care about fireworks. He swung on that tiny swing for a solid 30 minutes without getting off once!

It was a happy weekend and now we are off to a little vacation with Blake’s family for a few days. The month of July is one of my favorites, and this one is going to be good.

to the best dad, on father’s day

These two are just the definition of joy for me. I’m pretty sure Beau would prefer if I worked all day to pay the bills and Dad could stay home to watch him. The other morning I told Beau to say goodbye to his daddy and instead he latched tighter to his dad and said “bye bye mama”. I always have to distract him when he leaves for work or else it is an instant meltdown. And it really is just wonderful, the relationship they have with each other. It makes me so happy that Beau will always have a dad who tells him how much he loves him, and plays with him, and who also helps discipline so it’s not always mama being “mean”. Blake is the best father, and Beau (& myself) are blessed that we have him to keep forever. He works hard for us every day, so we can be home together. Because he is the best father ( & husband) I get to fulfill my greatest dream of raising my babies at home. I love you Blake. There is not a person who has met you that doesn’t love you. But I will always love you most.

a warmer week

This weeks weather has been so much sunnier than we’ve had in a little while so we have been enjoying playing outside. Beau is OBSESSED with being outside so much he hangs on the doors constantly begging for me to take him out. My Blake has been out of town for work the past few days which I hate more than anything. But he is coming home tomorrow!! I couldn’t be more excited. Beau and I have been staying with my parents while he has been gone. I’m not used to staying alone in our new house so I just decided to stay with them so I didn’t freak myself out being me and the babe alone. Plus staying at my parents means I get to share a bed with Beau and I just love snuggling up to him. Last night he slept on my neck for a few hours! And while it was not the most comfortable for me, I just soaked it up. It’s not very often this boy will give me a cuddle anymore.

Have a great week!

I’ve mentioned before how much Beau LOVES books. Being read to is one of his favorite things, and something we do every single day. So when Bookroo reached out we were so excited! I mean you should see Beau’s collection of reading material, and honestly you can never have too many books. They sent us the cutest little collection of books that have now become regulars in our reading rotation. One of his new books has a baby in it so of course he has to always point out the baby and say: “baby in a diappy” over and over again! Reading time will always be one of my most favorites with him. We’ve been reading to him since he was in the womb so it’s always a special moment for us. Thanks to Bookroo for partnering up with us! If you want to receive $5 off your order click here!

sick sick sick

Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

I’ve been non existent on this blog this week. Sickness hit me hard late Saturday night and stayed with me until right about now. I am still in the no energy stage of being sick. My most horrible symptoms are gone but the week body, fuzzy head, and no appetite still remain. It was one of those sicknesses where you just lay there and ache, and occasionally cry, and then feel worse from the crying because it accentuates the headache and the cough, etc. My husband really knows how to swoop in and be a hero because he took Beau and completely took over all mothering duties for 2 straight days. He even took work off on Monday to let me rest. By Tuesday I had to brave it on my own because he really does have to go to work sometime. It is not fun being sick and taking care of a baby, as any mom will tell you. But my boy really is as sweet as they come and he even took a 4 HOUR NAP on Tuesday!!!! So anyhow, now things are working their way back to normal and I’m just grateful to be feeling good again. Just in time for Easter weekend! Happy Friday guys, I hope everyone stays healthy.

We have been so happy to be outside in this sunshine that sometimes we can’t even make it out of jammies before we get out of the house. Beau gets in phases with his toys where he has certain favorites he refuses to let go of. It’s usually a car of some sort but when he saw this Donald Duck among his bath toys it didn’t leave his hand for a full day. It’s his favorite Disney character by far. He’s always saying “Donald Donald” in his sweetest baby voice. We are so happy it’s Friday and we get some days to spend time all together! I hope you guys have a great weekend.

Blake and I had a babysitter for Beau planned for a couple weeks when we originally decided to go skiing. The plan for that fell through so we decided to keep the sitter (aka: G-ma and G-pa) and go on a hike instead. Blake thought it sounded fun (I thought a movie sounded better) and really I was just being a trooper for him because I DO NOT like hiking. I love to exercise, run, anything workout related, except hiking. I just don’t love being in the woods and all that stuff. I know the mountains are beautiful and nature is super awesome but it’s just not my thing. The hike ended up being snowy and slick which meant we needed spikes for our shoes. I only had one, so one foot was stable and the other would slide all over the place! I fell at least 12 times on the way down and as you can see was thigh deep in many holes of snow. It was a good workout and I was happy to get some time with just my Blake. But next time we are going to a movie.
